Duties
You will frequently work in confined areas in and around boiler and diesel electric generators and support equipment.
You will operate and maintain boiler equipment, diesel electric generators and auxiliary equipment in the combined heat and power plant.
You will determine operating condition of the plant and equipment by reading meters and gauges and making necessary adjustments by manipulating controls and valves for most efficient operation.
You will evaluate and determine source of problems with equipment and reports it for necessary repairs.
You will maintain all plant logs, laboratory records and quality control.
You will perform tests and analyses of boiler feed water, boiler water and condensate return.
You will assist Electrical Power Controller with limited operations of the gas turbine's ancillary equipment.
You will perform all other duties as required to maintain operations.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You must be able to obtain maintain a minimum of level 3 ASOPE Power Plant Boiler Operator License.
- You must take a physical and audio test annually.
- This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION: Ability to perform the full range of BOILER PLANT OPERATOR tasks including operating and maintaining a Central Heating Plant (CHP) and co-generation plant on one's own initiative under general supervision, subject to occasional inspection.
