You will serve as a BOILER PLANT OPERATOR in the G-4, Installation and Logistics Department of MCRD ERR PI SC.

Duties

You will interpret blueprints, sketches, and maintenance literature to verify and maintain quality control of boiler plant operations. You will follow boiler plant operator safety procedures to prevent damage to boilers or personnel. You will analyze equipment and plant operating conditions to determine adjustments or corrections necessary for boiler operations. You will adjust automatic electrical combustion controls, magnetic valves, and programming controls for safe and efficient operation of boilers. You will analyze boiler and feed water to determine chemical treatment needed. You will change burner tips as required due to different fuels or firing rates. You will use fuel specifications, steam tables, and other guides to check plant efficiency. This is a bargaining unit position.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • You will be required to possess and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical , annual physical , and audio test examination.
  • You must be able to obtain and maintain a Level III American Society of Power Engineers (ASOPE) Power Plant Operators License.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • You MAY OR MAY NOT qualify for reimbursement of relocation expenses in accordance with agency policy.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION: Ability to perform the full range of BOILER PLANT OPERATOR tasks including operating and maintaining a Central Heating Plant (CHP) and co-generation plant on one's own initiative under general supervision, subject to occasional inspection.
