You will serve as a ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN (AIR CONTROL TRAFFIC SYSTEMS) in the AIR OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT of NAVAL AIR STATION.

Duties

You will work on highly complex Naval Air Traffic Control, Air Navigation Aids, and Landing Systems (NAALS) supporting Air Traffic Control and Air Operations. You will perform a full range of preventive and corrective maintenance on numerous electronic systems supporting Air Traffic Control and Air Operations. You will maintain and align Air Traffic Control electronic systems to the mandated specifications required for successful commissioning and periodic Federal Aviation Administration flight inspections. You will monitor operating trends to detect potential problems and verify the systems operates within specifications.

  • This position requires the employee to have the ability to discern colors, contrast, and depth.
  • This position requires the employee to work in adverse environmental conditions.
  • May require incumbent to enter into and work inside of confined spaces. The need for medical surveillance will be based on industrial hygiene evaluation.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current CPR certification.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Reviewing technical airfield electronic work for compliance with regulations; 2) Troubleshooting and repairing airfield electronic equipment, air traffic control systems, radar, instrument approach systems, navigational aids, and communications systems to solve complex technical problems or improve system performance; 3) Evaluating equipment design to improve or enhance circuit and system operation; and 4) Using applicable test equipment, test methods, and practices as related to the Air Traffic Control equipment and systems, including safety precautions.
