THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT (MILITARY) TITLE 32, Position Description Number D1190000 and is part of the IL 129 RTI, National Guard.
Duties
As a HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT (MILITARY) TITLE 32, GS-0203-5/6, you will provide assistance in administering the military personnel program for the Battalion/Squadron. The position works under the direction of the senior personnel and administrative NCO.
Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list:
Provide information to unit personnel about benefits and entitlements, career and bonus programs, educational, retirement, and other benefits.
Provide assistance to soldiers and dependents concerning benefits and entitlements.
Assist and provide guidance to subordinate unit personnel in the maintenance of military personnel records.
Review and provide recommendations for the assignment and utilization of military personnel in accordance with authorized manning documents.
Provide technical assistance to subordinate unit personnel, in the completion and maintenance of individual mobilization packets, applications for passports, and the publication of required personnel orders.
Research and resolve routine military personnel problems and questions.
Compile subordinate feeder information, identify trends, and propose recommendations based upon recurring required reports and/or findings of assistance visits and inspections.
Review copies of unit reports furnished by higher level military personnel offices to identify discrepancies and assist with the management of personnel assets within the organization.
Maintain the file system for the battalion/squadron personnel and administrative section.
Qualifications
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of consideration for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code § 709), will be in the following manner and sequence:
The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG.
The SECOND area of consideration will be all current Federal Employees.
The THIRD area of consideration will be all Federal re-employment eligible.
The FOURTH area of consideration will be applicants willing to become T32 Dual Status Technicians and gain ILNG membership.
The FIFTH area of consideration will U.S. Citizens.
Military Grades: Enlisted, may not exceed rank of CSM.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: MUST possess the experience, education, and/or training in progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position with experience using computer and automation systems.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-06 Level - MUST possess specialized experience, which includes at least 12-months experience, education or training equivalent to the GS-05 Level, that provide knowledge of general office work which may include but is not limited to: answering telephones, receiving and distributing mail and maintaining records; experience following oral or written instructions to accomplish work; experience establishing and retrieving files and information; experience using common computer software designed for word processing; experience including human resources program's business competencies, familiarity with the subject matter or processes used in human resources programs associated with DoD, U.S. Army, or U.S. Air Force, or similar human resources experience. GS-05 Level - MUST possess specialized experience for the GS-05 Level which includes experience, education, or training that provide knowledge of general office work which may include but is not limited to: answering telephones, receiving and distributing mail and maintaining records; experience following oral or written instructions to accomplish work; experience establishing and retrieving files and information; experience using common computer software designed for word processing.

Education
If you are using Education to qualify for this position, one full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience for GS-5 positions.
