Duties
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-14. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
As a/an Management Information Specialist, you will:
Design, develop, and run complex queries using complex Microsoft Access Structured Query Language (SQL) methods; and manipulates data and generates reports using Microsoft Access Structured Query Language (SQL) and maintains routine and ad hoc reports.
Work alongside IT professionals to design, develop, test, improve and deploy large scale Web based solutions using Oracle Apex, Java and other object oriented platforms.
Execute testing, implementation, and post-implementation system support procedures; demonstrate new or enhanced applications to customers and management; and draft user manuals or other instructional documents for operating personnel.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-14 grade level, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
-Accessing, scrubbing, modeling and analyzing financial and programmatic data, applying analytical and problem solving techniques to identify issues and develop solutions;
AND
-Performing system and process analysis (i.e. researching problems, planning solutions, recommending process, software and systems solutions, and coordinating development to meet business needs);
AND
-Writing reports with commercial off the shelf (COTS) software.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-13 grade level, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
- Assisting in accessing, scrubbing, modeling and analyzing financial and programmatic data and applying analytical problem-solving techniques to identify issues;
AND
- Assisting in performing system and process analysis (i.e. researching problems, planning solutions, recommending process, software and systems solutions, and assisting in development to meet business needs);
AND
- Writing reports with commercial off the shelf (COTS) software.
Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Time-in-Grade: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-14 you must have been at the GS-13 level for 52 weeks.
For the GS-13 you must have been at the GS-12 level for 52 weeks.
Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
