You will serve as a ACCOUNTANT (STAFF) in the MATERIAL ACCOUNTING DEPARTMENT of NAVSUP WEAPON SYSTEMS SUPPORT. #LI-NAVSUPWSS

Duties

You will work closely with all Accountants and Financial Management Analyst to discuss problems and resolutions for system issues You will perform detailed analysis to insure the integrity of the NERP accounting system. You will resolve problems which affect the NAVSUP WSS financial, contracting and supply databases. You will provide guidance to the financial procurement and inventory system to insure programs perform correctly in accordance to NAVSUP WSS business practices.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This is a Financial Management Level II certified position per the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012, Section 1599d. You must achieve this level within prescribed timelines. Certification requirements are in DoD Instruction 1300.26.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal Service or equivalent pay band or equivalent experience in the private sector that demonstrates professional Staff Accountant work-experience applying a professional knowledge and skill in accounting principles, theories, and techniques to ensure financial policies are developed and provide effective oversight, internal control and customer management information. Specialized experience includes knowledge and skill in gathering, assembling, consolidating and analyzing financial data to devise solutions to existing accounting system problems. Examples of specialized experience may include the following: 1) Research financial procurement and inventory system which impact the department responsibilities to insure that the programs perform correctly in accordance to business practices; 2) Perform detailed analysis and insure the integrity of the ERP accounting system; 3) Apply accounting principles, theories, concepts and practices in new or novel ways to solve problems; 4) Participate in meetings to brief commands, agencies, and contractors to discuss guidance on resolving complex topics and enhancing/modifying ERP system; 5) Contribute to the development of effective financial policy and internal control. Education

Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess1. Degree: accounting; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law. (The term "accounting" means "accounting and/or auditing" in this standard. Similarly, "accountant" should be interpreted, generally, as "accountant and/or auditor.")or
  1. Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following:
    1. Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality. This can include up to 6 hours of business law;
    2. A certificate as Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor, obtained through written examination; or
    3. Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in accounting or auditing, e.g., 15 semester hours, but that does not fully satisfy the 24-semester-hour requirement of paragraph A, provided that (a) the applicant has successfully worked at the full-performance level in accounting, auditing, or a related field, e.g., valuation engineering or financial institution examining; (b) a panel of at least two higher level professional accountants or auditors has determined that the applicant has demonstrated a good knowledge of accounting and of related and underlying fields that equals in breadth, depth, currency, and level of advancement that which is normally associated with successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in paragraph A; and (c) except for literal nonconformance to the requirement of 24 semester hours in accounting, the applicant's education, training, and experience fully meet the specified requirements
