About the Position: Position is with St Paul District. Serves as a Cook doing routine and repetitive tasks in the preparation and cooking of food.
The official duty station is the Dredge Goetz, wherever it is located.
Duties
Cuts fish and poultry into specified portions. Dices or cubes ham, pork, beef, etc.
Fries more simple foods such as bacon, eggs, hamburger meat, pork chops, etc., under close supervision.
Bastes meats such as roast, chicken, turkey, etc.
Dices, peels, strip, clean, slices and washes vegetables and fruits.
Prepares box lunches, including slicing meat, preparing lettuce, tomatoes, spreading dressing, wrapping and arranging in boxes.
Stirs and mixes gravies, sauces and dressings.
Arranges and portions salads.
Assists in keeping galley clean, operating equipment, obtaining foodstuffs from storage, and instructing mess attendants.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires a pre-employment physical and an annual physical thereafter.
- This position is a seasonal position.
- The work involves frequent lifting or moving of objects weighing up to 30 pounds; constant standing and walking; and occasional lifting of over 50 pounds.
- This position may require shift and/or a rotating shift schedule.
- Drug testing position.
- Mission Essential position.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Cook~ without more than normal supervision. Perform common cook tasks such as dicing, cubing, frying, baking, and other common food preparation duties. Follow food safety procedures. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Kitchens are often uncomfortably warm and noisy. There is exposure to steam, fumes, and odors from cooking. There is danger from falling on floors that have been freshly mopped or where food has spilled; burns from steam or hot foods; cuts from knives and electrical machines; exposure to extremes in temperatures when entering walk-in refrigerators from the warm kitchens.
