About the Position: This position is located at Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital.

Duties

Plan weekly/monthly work schedules for subordinates. Ensure subordinates adheres to safety and security practices. Adjust plans, assignments and methods as necessary to accomplish the work as effectively and economically as feasible. Investigate work-related problems to identify causes and implement corrective action. Instruct subordinates in new procedures. Determine how many assignments can be done concurrently or delayed based on the number and types of employees needed, considering skills, personnel, materials, and equipment available and required. Assure that material is ordered and delivered to work sites so as not to delay work.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
• A pre-placement medical examination is required.
• Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
• Moderate to heavy lifting up to 40 pounds may be required.
• This position may require rotating shifts (i.e. work schedule that requires employees to continuously rotate from one shift to another at predetermined intervals).
• This position may require the incumbent to work weekends and/or holidays.

They frequently lift or move objects weighing up to 18 kilograms (40 pounds) unassisted, and occasionally lift or move objects weighing over 18 kilograms (40 pounds) with the assistance of lifting devices or other workers. Working Conditions: The work is performed in kitchen areas which are well lighted but are often hot and noisy. The cooks are exposed to steam, fumes, and odors from cooking and to extreme temperature changes when entering walk-in refrigeration or freezing units. There is danger of slipping on wet floors that have been recently mopped or where food has been spilled. They are subject to possible cuts from knives and burns from steam, hot foods, stoves, and hot grease and water.
