This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, Pay and Personnel Center, Operations Division, Military Accounts Service Branch (MAS) in Topeka, KS.
Duties
In this position as a Military Pay Systems Specialist, you will beassisting with the management and administration of payroll for military and uniformed members of the U.S. Coast Guard, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and U.S. Public Health Service (PHS).

- This position requires a Minimum Background Investigation (MBI).
Qualifications
You qualify for the GS-09 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Some examples of specialized experience are:
-Assisting with reviewing and testing the pay and personnel system to verify that all the appropriate business rules have been incorporated.
-Assisting in audits of military pay accounts to verify that the accounts are being properly updated from the system tables and that legal and regulatory requirements are being met.
-Assisting with coordinating implementation of military pay and personnel legislation with business and systems analyst and programmers.
-Providing training to military and civilian payroll technicians on the operation of the automated pay system.
OR
master's or equivalent graduate degree in a related field
OR
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, in a related field
OR
LL.B. or J.D., if related
OR
A combination of education and specialized experience.
