Duties
1 - Carpentry 45%
· Performs journeyman-level carpentry work and selective demolition and repairs to existing historic structures. Work items typically require close tolerance fit and structural soundness, necessitating accurate and careful removal of both historic and non-historic fabric, and careful and complete process documentation; finished appearance is typically essential.
· Plans and lays out work from blueprints, drawings, and written and verbal instructions. Determines work sequence, materials, and tools to be used. Estimates materials to be used on projects.
· Stabilizes large areas of interior walls/floors/ceilings of historic structures during demolition.
· Selectively removes existing historic and non-historic doors, hardware, light fixtures, kitchen/bath fixtures, windows, joists, studs, rafters, sheetrock, window/floor coverings, and cabinets.
· Performs limited repairs and/or replacement of interior finishes such as ceiling panels/grid system, light fixtures, and drywall.
· Installs temporary controls during demolition activities to protect all historic fabrics and finishes.
2 - Plumbing and Heating 25%
· Performs journeyman level plumbing and baseboard hot water heating work that involves disconnecting reconnecting domestic water lines, sinks, toilets, and draining/capping selective domestic water and interior drain lines in order to carefully remove interior wall partitions and ceiling panels grid work. Carefully works around existing functional baseboard hot water system throughout the structure.
· Removes/documents/salvages identified sinks, toilets, kitchen fixtures, vent fans, water heaters.
· Plans and lays out work from blueprints, drawings, and written and verbal instructions to locate selective demolition areas. Determines work sequence, methods, materials, and tools to be used, and coordinates transport. Storage of salvaged items.
3 - Electrical 25%
· Makes electrical repairs, modifications and temporary connections where required, such as installing extra circuit breakers in the main panel to accommodate new circuits for temporary relocation of receptacles, lighting or appliances, re-routing conduits, temporary suspension of ceiling light fixtures, switches, outlets, thermostats, alarm panels.
· Uses conduit benders, electrical meters, fish tapes, and various other electrical hand and power tools. Removes and/or temporarily relocates lighting fixtures, receptacles, switches, panels, thermostats, ventilation hoods, and exhaust fans.
· Uses blueprints, schematics, sketches, and verbal instructions to complete work.
4 - Other duties 5%· Performs other work such as materials handling, vehicle maintenance and general debris clean up, and safety coordination.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:

Technical Practices (theoretical precise artistic)
Use of Measuring Instruments
Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. (including blueprints).
Ability to safely use and maintain tools and equipment
Knowledge of materials
Driver's License
