About the Position: This is a permanent position with Headquarters, US Army Corps of Engineers, Directorate of Civil Works, located at the Government Accountability Office (GAO) Building in Washington, DC.
Mission: The Civil Works programs include water resource development activities including flood risk management, navigation, recreation, and infrastructure and environmental stewardship. Our mission also includes emergency response.
Duties
Serve as a key administrative support function for a diverse and dynamic engineering organization.
Provide a variety of administrative, secretarial and office automation functions in support of the organization.
Receive visitors and incoming telephone calls.
Type letters, reports, and memorandums, congressional correspondence and routine documents using word processing equipment.
Review outgoing correspondence for procedural and grammatical accuracy.
Make travel arrangements for Branch Chief and staff members utilizing an electronic travel management system.
Maintain organizational working files and keeps supervisor calendar, making appointments and establishing priorities.
Utilize an electronic system for maintaining employee time and attendance records.
Perform a full range of standard clerical duties in support of the branch.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1. Perform administrative duties to include calender management, requesting building access and meeting space, coordinating travel and supply inventory; 2. Ensure drafted correspondence meets regulatory guidance, grammar, and spelling rules; 3. Maintain electronic filing system, including preparing meeting materials; 4. Utilize software programs, like Microsoft Office Suite and Webex, to tracking correspondence using databases and prepare training materials; and 5. Perform clerical duties like responding to questions with guidance, keep management up to date on issues and maintaining oversight of administrative tasks. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
