Duties

You will serve as an ASW/USW Combat Systems Test Technician and will be responsible for the requirements generation, test scenario planning, test execution, post-test data analysis, reporting, and support to the system engineer. You will demonstrate knowledge and application of technical concepts, skills, and principles in the areas of technical processes and procedures; test plan and scenario development based on system performance thresholds. You will demonstrate knowledge of processes, procedures, and their use in support of Navy, Fleet, Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), and/or Keyport weapons, combat, and/or sonar systems. You will utilize statistics, metrics, and other analytical tools to identify problem areas, determine appropriate improvements, complete those improvements. You will be an expert in ASW/USW Combat and Weapon Systems, specifically in the Sonar area with the ability to work with others and sound judgment in making technical decisions. You will utilize your knowledge of acoustics and understand the active and passive sonar equations and theory. You will be proficient in the maintenance, operations and training (where applicable) of the AN/SQQ-89(V) Systems.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band NT-03 (GS-09 and GS-10 equivalency) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Performing as a technician for one or more components of the AN/SQQ-89(V) Surface Ship Combat System.
