Qualifications
To qualify for the GS-13 level, you must have 1 year of full-time* specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level defined as reviewing and managing information for higher level management concerning the Clean Air Act and other air and radiation programs' concepts, policies, guidance, and operations; and writing materials for senior managers within and outside an organization.
Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas: 1) Knowledge of environmental programs sufficient to communicate with senor management on principles, theories, and practices; 2) Knowledge of data gathering and analysis techniques to collect and review technical information on environmental activities; 3) Ability to explain complex environmental programs and policies to experts and non-experts verbally and in writing; 4) Ability to research and analyze specific problems, projects, or functions to provide advice and recommendations to senior staff; 5) Skill in oral communication; 6) Skill in written communication; 7) Ability to work in a team setting.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
