You will serve as a SECURITY ASSISTANT (OFFICE AUTOMATION) in the Visitor Control Center (Pass & ID) of Naval Support Activity Bethesda.

Duties

You will serve as a Visitor Control Center (Pass and Identification) Clerk preparing, issuing, and maintaining accountability of restricted badges to customers. You will receive calls, greet visitors, and direct customers to appropriate offices. You will conduct traffic and parking studies and prepare reports for supervisor. You will conduct criminal history and sex offender background checks on potential visitors to the installation. You will compile list of authorized visitors to the installation and send them to the entry control points (gates) for use by police personnel.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to possess and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Using office automation software (e.g., word processing, database, spread sheet programs) to draft documents in accordance with outlined regulations and procedures; 2) Using office equipment (e.g., personal computer, fax machine, or scanner) to perform a variety of administrative tasks; 3) Interacting with individuals of all levels, both within and external to the organization; and 4) Coordinating visitor badges, incoming and outgoing visit request and ID card management (i.e., visitor badges and CACs). NOTE: THIS INFORMATION MUST BE SUPPORTED IN YOUR RESUME TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THE POSITION. This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute.
