About the Position: This Medical Support Assistant (Office Automation) position is located at Fort Belvoir Community Hospital Dir. for Surgery, Dept. of Orthopaedics & Rehabilitation.

Duties
Responsible for the central management of the scheduling/appointing system.
Maintain the automated database, purging outdated templates, merging templates, inputting templates, and creating schedules.
Define appointment types to aid appointment clerks and clinic staff in correctly booking the patients into appropriate appointment types.
Develop and manage master appointment templates for health care providers and technicians ensuring correct coding and compatibility with existing systems ensuring proper accountability of workload.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
- This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes documenting patient charts in a medical treatment facility (MTF) or clinic setting; scheduling patient appointments and/or coordinating patient referral appointments; preparing a variety of reports utilizing MTF office automation tools. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
