This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, U. S. Coast Guard, Shore Infrastructure Logistics Center (SILC), Civil Engineering Unit (CEU) Juneau, Juneau, Alaska.
Duties
This is an interdisciplinary position to be filled to the series represented by a candidate that meets the qualifications and may be filled as any of the following: Environmental Engineer, GS-0819-11/12 or GS-0801-12; Natural Resources Management Specialist, GS-0401-11/12, or Physical Scientist, GS-1301-11/12

Qualifications
Basic Requirement for Physical Scientist, GS-1301:Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.
OR
Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.Basic Requirements Qualifications for General Natural Resources Management and Biological Sciences Series, 0401:Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.ORCombination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
Additional Requirements for both job series:
In addition to meeting the basic requirements, you must have at least one full year of specialized experience comparable in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal service performing the following types of tasks on a regular and recurring basis:
GS 11-Applicants must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience include:
Participating in environmental audits and site assessments to ensure compliance to environmental laws and regulations;
Participating in the review of environmental impacts that could result from construction or engineering projects /designs;
Applying environmental standards, methods, and practices to assure full implementation of environmental laws, regulations or policy;
Collecting, compiling, analyzing, and reporting environmental compliance and safety data;
Providing analysis on environmental impacts that could result from construction or engineering projects /designs;OR 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degreeOR Combination of Graduate Education and Professional Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and specialized experience may be used to meet total experience requirements
GS-12 - Applicants must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience include:
Evaluating environmental programs for compliance with federal, state, and regional/local requirements and department/agency policies;
Conducting environmental audits and site assessments to ensure compliance to environmental laws and regulations;
Applying environmental standards, methods, and practices to assure full implementation of the NEPA and other environmental laws, regulations or policy;
Provide recommendations on environmental impact statements, studies and other pertinent documents;
Evaluating potential environmental impacts that could result from construction or engineering projects /designs;
Collecting, compiling, analyzing, and reporting environmental compliance and safety data;
Developing and organizing policy guidance to manage organizational environmental planning, environmental compliance, remediation and liabilities, and sustainment/environmental stewardship programs.
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skill, and ability to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
