This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Superintendent, Eastern Nevada Agency in Owyhee, Nevada. NOTE: MANAGEMENT IS WILLING TO CONSIDER OFFERING ANY INCENTIVE, I.E., RECRUITMENT/RELOCATION BONUS.

Duties

Maintenance Worker reports to Branch of Facilities Management performing mixed duties of general nature for proper recurring and preventive maintenance, including major and minor improvements to the buildings, grounds, and utility systems. Electrical, Plumbing, and Heating Repairs. Groundskeeping Maintenance, and Repairs. Trades and Craft work such as Carpentry and Painting. Routine, Recurring, and Preventative Repairs. Miscellaneous maintenance duties.

Qualifications

This position is OPEN UNTIL FILLED and may be extended or closed prior to the current closing date. To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision Knowledge of technical practices Knowledge of materials Ability to interpret instructions, blueprints, specifications, etc. Ability to use and maintain tools and operate and maintain equipment and use of measuring instruments. Physical Demands: Physical effort is moderate to heavy, and requires occasional lifting or handling of objects or materials up to 50 pounds, unassisted, following proper lifting procedures to avoid injury. Frequently required to stand while working, climb ladders, stilts or scaffolding, and bend ,stoop, climb, and work in awkward positions. Working Conditions: Exposed to a variety of seasonal weather conditions while working outdoors (temperatures can range from -40 to 90+ degrees). Subject to danger of falling from ladders, stilts or scaffolding. Exposed to dust, dirt, wind and rain. May work with dangerous chemicals and around moving equipment; paints, solvents, etc. May be exposed to electrical shocks and biting insects. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Merit Promotion candidates must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the announcement closing date. Preference in filling vacancies is given to qualified Indian candidates in accordance with the Indian Preference Act of 1934 (title 25, USC Section 472). Additional selections may be made from this announcement if identical vacancies occur in the same location within 90 days from the closing date.

Education
