This position is part of the Haskell Indian Nations University, Bureau of Indian Education. As a Sports Specialist (Equipment Coordinator) you will be responsible for managing all aspects of athletic equipment, including procurement, maintenance, inventory, and distribution in the Division of Athletics.

Duties

As a Sports Specialist (Equipment Coordinator) GS-0030-7/9, your typical work assignments may include the following under supervision: Ensuring compliance with NAIA rules and regulations regarding athletic equipment, including certification processes and equipment specifications. Promoting a culture of safety by ensuring that all equipment meets safety standards and providing education on proper equipment usage and maintenance. Maintaining accurate records of all equipment, tracking usage, and conducting periodic audits to ensure proper inventory levels. Fostering high standards of integrity, athletic excellence, and academic success and applying strong management and fiscal skills. Ensuring that all teams have access to the necessary equipment and ensuring the proper maintenance, distribution, and inventory control of athletic gear.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the qualification requirements contained in the OPM Standards. For this position, they are listed below. GS-07: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. One year of specialized experience that equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. This experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in the Federal service. Examples include: Managing all aspects of athletic equipment, including procurement, maintenance, inventory, and distribution; Supporting the operations of the collegiate athletics department by overseeing the management and coordination of athletic equipment and supplies; Assisting with the oversight of the regular maintenance, repair, and replacement of athletic equipment to ensure its safety, functionality, and compliance with regulations. -OR- EDUCATION: Successfully completed one full year of appropriate graduate level education (18 semester hours, 27 quarter hours or equivalent) in a field of study directly related to the work of this position -or- Superior Academic Achievement which included one of the following: 1) Class standing-applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class, based on completed courses; or (2) Grade-Point Average-applicants must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or (3) Election to membership in a National Scholastic Honor Society -membership in a freshman honor society cannot be used to meet the requirements of this provision. In order to be creditable under this provision, superior academic achievement must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled. This education needs to be in a major study of physical education. -OR- COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Combination of graduate level education and specialized experience when combined together meets 100% of the total requirements for the position. To compute, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify. GS-09: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. One year of specialized experience that equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. This experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal service. Examples include: Managing all aspects of athletic equipment, including procurement, maintenance, inventory, and distribution; Supporting the operations of the collegiate athletics department by overseeing the management and coordination of athletic equipment and supplies; Assisting with the oversight of the regular maintenance, repair, and replacement of athletic equipment to ensure its safety, functionality, and compliance with regulations; Working collaboratively with coaches, athletic trainers, and other staff members to address equipment-related requests, concerns, and issues; Working closely with coaches, athletes, and other staff members to ensure the smooth functioning of equipment- related processes. -OR- EDUCATION: Have a master's or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.B. or J.D., if related. This education needs to be in a major study of physical education. -OR- COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Combination of graduate level education and specialized experience when combined together meets 100% of the total requirements for the position. To compute, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify. Only experience and education obtained by the closing date of this announcement will be considered. Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year (52 weeks) of service at the next lower grade level.

Education
