You will serve as a PRODUCTION CONTROLLER (SHIPBUILDING) in the PROJECT OFFICE of SUPERVISOR OF SHIPBUILDING GROTON.

Duties

You will conduct reviews (of ship and/or system specifications, contract plans, HMR's, FMR's, etc) for the planning of government support and control actions necessary for the administration of assigned programs. You will control all phases associated with the construction, alteration, modernization and repair of all submarines or projects assigned. You will maintain daily contact with the assigned ship and combat systems coordinators in order to monitor progress of shipboard work and keep abreast of and coordinate resolution of daily problems that have potential impact on schedules. You will Interface with both internal and external contacts for the purposes of negotiating costs, exchanging information, scheduling operations, and to discuss other construction concerns.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). You must be certified as a Career Field Production, Qaulity and Manufacturing, Level II. Certification is required within 24 months of appointment.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • You will be required to perform occasional sea duty.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: preparing production plans for a vessel project. Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management website: General Schedule Qualification Standards (opm.gov) Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Successfully completed two full years of graduate level education that is directly related to the position being filled.
OR
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. My percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
