This position serves as the Supervisory Nurse at the Claremore Indian Hospital. The incumbent is responsible for providing leadership and management of the daily operations including maximizing human and material resources to achieve established quality standard of patient care and practice. The position reports to the Assistant Chief Nurse Executive.

Duties

Plan, develop, implement and evaluate the nursing care provide to Surgical Services patients of all ages. Ensure nursing care provided meets accreditation standards. Set schedules and ensure adequate coverage of nursing staff within the Nursing Surgery Department. Supervise and evaluate performance standards of subordinate staff. Provides direct patient care, as needed.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools. License: Applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: GS-12: One full year of professional nursing experience, equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Examples of experience include: Knowledge of nursing concepts, skills and principles necessary to provide professional services including assisting with all aspects of managing an Operating Room/Surgical Services department/unit. Provide leadership, direction, and technical expertise in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of the delivery of nursing services for the benefit and provision of safe comprehensive care. Supervisory Abilities: This is a supervisory position and candidates, in addition to the professional qualifications listed, must have demonstrated in their work experience or training, that they possess, or have potential to develop, the qualities of successful supervision, as required for this position. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
