Duties
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-14. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
As a/an Supervisory Equal-Opportunity Specialist, you will:
Supervise a staff and manage other resources to achieve maximum efficiency and balance in utilizing the resources assigned.
Assign work to subordinates based on priorities of the Branch and ensure work is efficiently and effectively carried out.
Implement ways to eliminate or significantly reduce bottlenecks and barriers to production, promote team or improve business practices.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-14, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
- Supervising staff or providing oversight of the analyses and application of fair housing laws and equal opportunity regulations such as the Fair Housing Act, Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, Title VI of the Civil Rights of 1964, Section 109 of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, Section 3 of the Housing and Urban Development Act of 1968, Section 504 of the 1973 Rehabilitation Act, and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act or other civil rights laws and regulations;
AND
- Addressing a wide variety of employee, stakeholder, and client issues to collect and present factual information to aid in resolution of complaints and/or compliance reviews and drafting determinations and Letters of Findings;
AND
- Identifying and recommending solutions for particularly extensive equal opportunity problems as well as the enforcement of the applicable civil rights statutes.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-13, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
- Performing analyses and applying fair housing laws and equal opportunity regulations such as the Fair Housing Act (also known as Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968), Title VI of the Civil Rights of 1964, Section 109 of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, Section 3 of the Housing and Urban Development Act of 1968, Section 504 of the 1973 Rehabilitation Act, and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act or other civil rights laws and regulations;
AND
- Addressing a wide variety of employee, stakeholder, and client issues to collect and present factual information to aid in resolution of individual complaints and/or compliance reviews and drafting determinations and Letters of Findings;
AND
- Identifying and recommending solutions for equal opportunity problems.
Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Time-in-Grade: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-14 you must have been at the GS-13 level for 52 weeks.
For the GS-13 you must have been at the GS-12 level for 52 weeks.
Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
