You will serve as a ASSIST PRODUCTION SHOP PLANNER (GENERAL) in the PORT OPERATIONS DIVISION of COMMANDER, NAVY REGION NORTHWEST.

Duties

You will lift and move heavy objects using safe lifting methods. You will inform employees of maintenance trade practices so that all work performed meets requirements. You will determine manpower needs or material requirements based on projected maintenance work. You will troubleshoot mechanical malfunctions to determine remedy or method of repair. You will manage stock material (e.g., record errors, correct routine discrepancies) for accountability of items.

Requirements

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • Incumbent must have a working knowledge of the marine trades.
  • Incumbent will be required to obtain a Government Purchase Card.
  • The incumbent will be required to obtain a forklift license up to 3 ton (6,000 pound capacity).

The Screen-out Element for this position is: The Ability to perform the work of a Assist Production Shop Planner (General) without more than normal supervision as demonstrated by the following: 1) Ordering parts, supplies, material for maintenance of tugboats, small boats and other floating property using standard supply system procedures and the credit card system; 2) Using Government Purchase Card, stock system/1348 system, and (preparing/tracking) contracts to acquire vessel repair parts, various supplies, services, and materials; 3) Maintaining historical files on all projects and catalogs and parts list; 4) obtaining estimates from vendors, complying with purchasing laws and procedures, ordering, receiving materials, reviewing purchase statements for tugboats, small crafts, and small boats. Walking, bending, and some lifting are required. Rapid mental capacity to solve day to day problems to accomplish work efficiently and on schedule is necessary. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The incumbent may be exposed to industrial noises, dirt, dust, grease, and abrasives while working in the production area. May be exposed to cuts, burns, falls, bruises, etc. Will be required to use protective clothing and equipment when exposed to adverse environmental working conditions and hazardous work assignments. The incumbent may be assigned to work areas where certain potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present. These agents may include, but are not limited to: fumes, dust, noise, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, chemicals, etc. To ensure employee safety and health, CNRNW maintains personnel protection programs consistent with applicable laws and regulations. These programs may include engineering controls, training, work procedures, use of personal protective equipment, and medical surveillance. As part of medical surveillance examinations to assess his/her medical qualification for duty involving work with theses agents. SAFETY: Incumbent is responsible for following safe work practices including the use of appropriate personnel protective equipment (PPE). Incumbent is required to perform the duties of this position with the highest level of attention to safety and health and will take the imitative to make their areas safe for themselves as well as those working around them.
