Duties
Serve as supervisor with the full range of supervisory responsibilities. Within DHPW’s intent, incumbent prioritizes health promotion and wellness evaluation project workload and simultaneously manages multiple high visibility projects.
Hear and resolve complaints from employees, referring group grievances and more serious unresolved issues to a higher level of supervisory authority.
Serve as senior program manager, staff advisor, and consultant on health promotion and wellness evaluation efforts to the Department of Defense (DoD) and individual Services and elements.
Oversee all evaluation activities required of program evaluation projects in the Division including staffing, timelines, data collection processes and procedures, and progress reviews with stakeholders and senior leadership.
Advise on development and delivery of quality evaluation plans, data collection tools, statistical analyses, synthesis of evidence, and deliverables.
Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- One-year supervisory probationary period required. A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.
- One year trial/probationary period may be required.

Basic Requirement for Supervisory Public Health Scientist GS-0601-14:
Education: A bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. In addition to the above requirements, applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service which includes:
assigning work to subordinates and evaluating completed work; assisting with developing new methods to meet project requirements; and evaluating public health programs.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13)
Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
