DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: Lead and supervise a team of multi-disciplined engineers to achieve LRSO and Air Vehicle IPT priorities. Lead all technical management activities for the Avionics team within the Air Vehicle IPT. Lead technical reviews during Engineering, Manufacturing and Development (EMD) supporting various test and evaluation milestones in preparation for Production and Deployment (P&D). Advise IPT and Division leadership on technical risks and issues effecting the cost, schedule, and performance during development, test and evaluation, and fielding, and sustainment of the LRSO. Develop and present technical briefings and reports to Senior Executives. Engage with geographically dispersed stakeholders including the AFNWC, Department of Energy, National Nuclear Security Administration, Air Force Global Strike Command, and Department of Defense (DoD) officials to ensure LRSO technical activities are successfully planned, coordinated, and executed. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Candidates should have demonstrated technical engineering experience in the development of electrical components for aerospace systems. Candidates should have demonstrated experience leading in a team environment. Candidates should have strong leadership and communication skills. Candidates should have demonstrated experience conducting systems engineering design reviews (SETRs), reviewing drawings and analysis, planning validation and verification events, reviewing test plans and test reports, chairing test readiness reviews (TRRs), facilitating failure review boards (FRBs), and support all-up round (AUR) level tests. Candidates should be knowledgeable in DoD acquisition processes, to include but not limited to: risk and opportunity management processes, configuration control board processes, and Government Control Account Manager (GCAM) processes. Candidates should have a strong background in professional scientific or engineering principles, modeling and simulation frameworks, requirements development, and verification activities. It is desirable for candidates to have experience in the development, test and evaluation, fielding, and/or sustainment of cruise missiles. It is desirable for candidates to be knowledgeable in the unique aspects of nuclear weapon systems to include nuclear certification and radiation effects.

  • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise; employee must obtain and maintain Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.

  • This is a drug testing designated position and is subject to random drug testing.
  • Supervisory requirements may be required depending upon the position being filled.
  • Employee must meet Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements, which includes achieving Engineering and Technical Management “Practitioner” certification category within required timeframe after appointment.

  • In accordance with the Ethics in Government Act, 1978, employee may be required to file an OGE Form 450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, upon appointment and will be required to file annually.
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
  • A professional engineering degree at the bachelor’s level from an ABET accredited institution is required.
  • This position has been designated as an acquisition position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP). Work requires the appropriate certification and must be obtained within 24 months of employment.

Knowledge of the principles of planning, program management, and standard acquisition regulations, practices and procedures. 3. Knowledge of safety, security, personnel management, and EEO regulations, practices and procedures. 4. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization. 5. Ability to research, evaluate, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, and procedures to a variety of situations and to recommend timely and economical solutions.
