This position is located at Bureau of Engraving and Printing, within the OFFICE OF FACILITIES SUPPORT. As an Electrician, you will install, modify, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair the electrical/electronic components of an industrial facility and associated equipment such as AC and DC power distribution systems; Security intrusion detection systems; Industrial battery trucks; CCTV and monitor installations; food preparation and service units: and conventional building systems.
Duties
As an Electrician, you will:
Install, modify, troubleshoot, maintain and repair the electrical/electronic components of an industrial facility and associated equipment in support of the printing and processing of U.S. currency and related products; Photolithographic equipment; high voltage wiring and substation gear; AC and DC medium and low voltage wiring and distribution systems: conduit and other raceway systems: industrial plating rectifiers and electroplating equipment: Security intrusion detection systems; personnel access systems (MDI); fire alarm signal systems; Industrial battery powered fork lift and miscellaneous purpose trucks, industrial truck batteries and battery charging equipment; CCTV and monitor systems; general building lighting and power systems; solvent recovery systems; construction and renovation wiring; product waste and general building trash handling and compacting machinery and systems; air conditioning systems: high, medium and low voltage ac and dc motors: programmable logic controllers: local area network. (LAN) systems fiber optic systems all shop machinery, welders and power tools; building vacuum and air supply systems: overhead electrical powered rail cranes and stationary hoists; high and low voltage transformers for building power and specific applications: coaxial cable systems; transmitting and receiving antennas; industrial steel hardening equipment, ovens and controllers; various food preparation and service equipment; theater lighting and dimming equipment and controls and associated audio systems; grounding systems; emergency power generators, distribution and lighting system.
Interprets domestic and foreign drawings, schematics, manufacturer's maintenance instruction manuals, and associated wiring diagrams of interacting subsystems, to troubleshoot and repair facility-related machinery for any electrically related problems, which may occur.
Work with microprocessors and programmable controllers in the various areas of the Bureau.
Use hand tools, power shop toots, and electrical test equipment such as: ammeters, voltmeters, multi-meters, phase-testers, chart recorders, etc.
Provide craft instruction and on the job training to apprentices and electrical workers during the periods the apprentices or workers are assigned to the incumbent to learn and work.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Selective Factor: This job requires an active Journeyman and/or Master Electricians license.
You must meet the screen-out element: Ability to do the Work of the Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen-out), normally addressed at the beginning of the online questions. Minimally qualifying ability is defined as, Journeyman and/or Master Electrician work on commercial and industrial facility and production equipment. Performing recurring tasks with normal supervision and receiving instructions on new work, while all unusual situations were referred to the supervisor for assistance.
