This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: The incumbent will serve as an Operations Research Analyst at the Resources and Analysis Directorate-Portfolio Management and Strategic Analysis Division in Miami, Florida.

Duties

Apply analytic methods resulting in the development of models to resolve problems. Conduct operations research and data analysis to provide guidance to personnel. Evaluate operations to identify ways to improve organizational efficiency. Facilitate the distribution of data to process feedback ensuring all analytical aspects are evaluated for accuracy.

Basic Requirement for an Operations Research Analyst must be met first: Degree: in operations research; or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1). Identify information through strategic analyses to resolve areas of concern regarding operations for upcoming organizational missions; 2). Provide guidance to personnel regarding organizational data to formulate new procedures to enhance organizational efficiency; and 3). Conduct assessments to predict the probability of events based on previous and recent organizational productivity standards. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
