Duties

As a Student Trainee: You will conduct statistical analyses of data, to include descriptive statistics, correlational analyses, and significance testing, using statistical software. You will complete research tasks as part of the management of large, complex projects or programs. You will assist with developing and delivering presentations to various stakeholder groups explaining statistical analyses and study results. You will prepare written materials, develop a variety of reports, and briefings. You will receive assignments and projects designed, to provide a basic overview of the various USAID's programs processes. You will perform some assignments that are administrative in nature, to support various USAID's programs.

Requirements

  • United States Citizenship is required.
  • Must be enrolled in a qualifying academic program.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered with the Selective Service.
  • Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer is required.
  • Min. GPA 2.0 undergraduate; Min. GPA 3.0 graduate
  • Must sign pathways agreement, if selected.
  • Must maintain eligibility and enrollment for the duration of the internship.

Qualifications

Applicants must have experience using statistical software packages (e.g., SPSS, SAS, R), MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Etc., and experience developing and/or administering surveys.

Education

USAID offers internship opportunities to students who are currently enrolled in or accepted for enrollment in a wide variety of qualifying educational institutions. Qualifying education must have been obtained from an accredited college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education DAPIP | Homepage (ed.gov).

Eligibility Requirements

GS-9 - Completion of 2 academic years of graduate-level education, a master's degree, or equivalent graduate degree.

GS-11- Applicants currently enrolled in a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. This may be documented on your official/unofficial transcripts, a course schedule, an acceptance letter from your university for future enrollment, or an official letter of enrollment from the university registrar's office or a university counselor, as long as your enrollment for the current or upcoming semester is clearly documented. If you do not provide proof of enrollment for the current or upcoming semester, you will be disqualified from further consideration.

NOTE: You must remain enrolled in the degree program for the duration of this career internship to maintain eligibility for this position, and maintain good academic standing (at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA for undergraduate programs and a 3.0 GPA for graduate programs, on a 4.0 grading scale).
