Duties
This position is located within the United States Department of the Interior, Office of Restoration and Damage Assessment. The position will be physically located in Lakewood, Colorado.
At the full performance level (GS-15) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Supervise the Restoration Support Unit (RSU) through direct staff assignments, providing technical and policy advice, reviewing staff products, setting annual performance standards and conducting progress reviews, arranging developmental opportunities, and ensuring staff compliance with all applicable Departmental and OS policies and directives (e.g. diversity/EEO issues, ethics, conduct and discipline.)
2. Serve as the key policy and technical advisor to the Natural Resource Damage Assessment and Restoration Program (NRDAR) Program related to the planning, implementation and monitoring of natural resource damage restoration projects.
3. Coordinate and oversee the development of the policy, guidance and procedural documents related to the restoration support components of the NRDAR Program.
4. Identify and coordinate with internal Departmental and external restoration programs, including state and tribal governments, that may serve as catalysts for potential restoration partnering opportunities.
5. Coordinate with industry, non-governmental organizations and others, as appropriate, in improving the efficiency of restoration activities.
The Office of the Secretary has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisory approval.
Salary Information
GS-15, Step 1: $159,806.00 to GS-15, Step 10: $191,900.00 per annum.
First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the lower salary range of the grade level.
This vacancy may be used to fill additional positions as vacancies become available.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
To qualify for this position you must meet the (1) Basic Educational Requirements AND/OR (2) Specialized Experience for the series to which you are applying.
Specialized Experience
To qualify for the GS-15, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience:
1. Applying Natural Resource Damage Assessment and Restoration work under the Oil Pollution Act and Comprehensive Environmental Response, Cleanup, and Liability Act.
2. Guiding staff and other personnel in the application of the National Environmental Policy Act in the development of restoration plans.
3. Directing a team of individuals in the development of scientific and economic tools and methods to improve damage assessment and restoration outcomes.
4. Leading or supervising staff that support Natural Resource Damage Assessment and Restoration case teams.
