This position is located within the Social Work Service and provides administrative support to one or more assigned Sections within the Service Line. Incumbent is responsible for all routine administrative activities in support of the assigned Section(s).
Duties
Consistently communicates and treats customers (patients, visitors, volunteers. and all Medical Center staff) in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner
Receive visitors and telephone calls; determining the nature of the requests; and directing callers to the appropriate official.
Act as liaison between Veterans and medical center staff, serving as consumer advocate.
Provides the information desired on routine or procedural matters of the office.
Manage correspondence by receiving, assessing, routing and handles incoming and outgoing materials such as controlled or routine correspondences, reports, memoranda, and other forms of written communication.
Participate in administrative, staff, and in-service meetings of the program and other meetings as directed.
Prepares IT requests for the section for computer hardware and software, remote access, telephones, and tele-medicine equipment.
Collects, compiles, and tracks data and information in support of the Section's operations.
Use of Microsoft Work, Outlook, and Excel programs as indicated by duties of the position.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm (Subject to change based on the needs of the Agency)

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 02/13/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-7 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-6. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-6 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Providing clerical and administrative support to an office or program.
Providing consult management.
Utilizing systems for Timekeeping.
Scheduling appointments, clinic cancellations and rescheduling.
Experience in an outpatient setting.

Physical Requirements: The work is generally sedentary although there may be some walking, bending or standing for short periods of time or carrying light items such as files, papers, books or audiovisual equipment. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
