Duties

This Attorney Advisor position is a part of the judicial clerkship program in the Office of Administrative Law Judges (OALJ) at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).  As such, the successful candidate will work for no more than 2 years as a judicial law clerk to administrative law judges in FERC's OALJ.  Only candidates that can start immediately, are presently licensed to practice law, and have a minimum of 1-year of experience as a practicing attorney may apply.

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Possess a J.D. or LL.B. degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Current, active bar membership required.
  • A two-year trial period may be required.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • Generally, male applicants must be registered with the Selective Service.
  • This position has an education requirement; you must submit transcripts.
  • You may be required to divest certain energy-related securities.
  • A background investigation is required.

Qualifications

You must meet the following basic requirements, by the closing date of this announcement: Interested candidates must be a member of the bar, licensed to practice law, in a state or territory of the United States with at least one year experience as a practicing attorney. In addition, to the minimum requirements above, you must meet the following qualifications by the closing date of this announcement: INTERESTED CANDIDATES MUST PROVIDE A COVER LETTER, A RESUME, AND LAW SCHOOL AND UNDERGRADUATE TRANSCRIPTS. FAILURE TO INCLUDE ALL REQUESTED DOCUMENTS WILL RESULT IN CANDIDATES NOT BEING CONSIDERED. Two (2) writing samples will also be separately required if selected for an interview. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including any volunteer experience.
