This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for STRL Mission Support Positions to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: The Chemical Biological Center (CBC) is the nation's principal research and development resource for non-medical chemical and biological defense.

Duties

Perform specialized duties in support of the Research and Operations Directorate, Chemical Biological Center. Make all necessary arrangements for supported staff's travel utilizing the Defense Travel System. Coordinate and attend conferences as needed to assist the supervisor. Provide guidance and assistance on applicable procedures, instructions and regulations. Coordinate correspondence for the Division and Branch Chiefs. Serve as liaison between the staff members, visitors and other contacts. Set up and maintain pertinent office files and records (classified and unclassified). Purchase facility supplies and equipment.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Secret security clearance required.
  • Business travel (TDY) may be required up to 5% of the time.
  • One year trial period may be required.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) providing administrative support to an organization; 2) utilizing financial databases such as General Fund Enterprise Business Systems (GFEBS) in order to complete procurement tasks; 3) using office automation software and/or systems; 4) assisting in procuring supplies, equipment, and/or services. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). -OR- Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration, Management, or another related field. -OR- Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
