This position is located in the Office of Chief Counsel, Maritime Administration (MARAD).
This position is established to (1) develop and execute various MARAD programs and procedures to be used in the day-to-day management and operation; (2) independently execute, scrutinize, revise, and coordinate packages for the signature of the Chief Counsel that are of an annual, recurring, one-time, or confidential nature such as briefing materials, reports and enforcement positions.

Qualifications
To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must meet the specialized experience qualifications for the grade at which you are requesting consideration.To qualify for the Grade 12, you must have at least one year of experience equal or equivalent to the GS-11 it must include:
Experience providing administrative support to a senior manager and/or executive which includes making travel arrangements, drafting correspondence/written documents and managing schedules.
To qualify for the Grade 13, you must have at least one year of experience equal or equivalent to the GS-12, it must include:
Experience providing administrative support to a senior manager and/or executive which includes making travel arrangements, drafting correspondence/written documents, managing schedules, and recommending changes to administrative policies and procedures to facilitate business operations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of the Chief Counsel’s personal views, policies, and special interests, sufficient to resolve office emergencies, independently perform non-routine assignments, and to brief or advise persons outside the organization on supervisor's views on current issues.
Knowledge of the substantive programs of the Maritime Administration as they relate to clerical and administrative functions sufficient to resolve emergent issues and problems.
Skill in advising and instructing secretaries in subordinate organizations concerning such matters as directives, reports correspondence, and telephone procedures.
