About the Position: This position is located in the TRICARE Operations Department, Directorate for Healthcare Business, Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune, North Carolina under the Directorate of Administration - TRICARE Operations
Duties
Serves as a point of contact for matters relating to all health benefits programs available to active duty and retired members, as well as TRICARE for Life, of the uniformed services and their dependents.
Provides information and assistance based upon personal, written and telephone inquiries concerning both inpatient and outpatient medical care.
Assists beneficiaries in obtaining the required care by servicing as a resource point in obtaining care for patients.
Provides guidance to beneficiaries concerning program requirements for preauthorization and other prerequisites.
Acts as the Debt Collection Assistance Officer (DCAO).
Assists with development, implementation and monitoring of the TRICARE Prime enrollment plan for the medical center.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
- Incumbent will be required to receive any command required vaccinations, such as the annual flu shot, which will be provided by the command. Only where it is medically contra-indicated or for religious reasons will employee exemption be granted.
- This position may have a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting active duty, retired members of the uniformed services, and their dependents with benefit program inquiries; providing beneficiary counseling to military personnel for a medical treatment facility; utilizing automated benefit enrollment systems, such as Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS), to facilitate registration for participants; reviewing medical claims discrepancies to resolve beneficiary concerns. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
