Duties
This position serves as an Administrative Technician in the Administrative Division for the Office of the United States Attorney, Eastern District of Virginia. The incumbent provides a wide variety of clerical and administrative services in support of Administrative Services and Director of Administration, and performs other administrative functions of the District. Examples of these services include, but not limited to, mail management, motor vehicle operations, time and attendance, supplies, inventory, and equipment and facilities maintenance.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
Requirements
- You must be a U.S. Citizen or National
- Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation
- You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable
- You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.
- If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
- Some duties require lifting supplies, equipment, and moving office furniture weighing up to 50 pounds.
Qualifications
To be qualified at the GS-5 level, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 level. Specialized experience is defined as experience processing all incoming mail (e.g. time stamping, sorting, routing); maintaining an inventory of expendable supplies. OR
Substitution of Education: 4 years above high school is also qualifying for the GS-5 level.
To be qualified at the GS-6 level, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level. Specialized experience is defined as experience providing all aspects of mail operations (receipt, routing, dispatch, and control); maintaining inventory of office equipment (cell phones, printers, laptops etc).
To be qualified at the GS-7 level, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 level. Specialized experience is defined as experience providing all aspects of mail operations (receipt, routing, dispatch, and control); conducting wall-to-wall inventory; maintaining inventory of office equipment (cell phones, printers, laptops etc).

To be qualified, you must type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. (A typing test may later be required.)
