This vacancy is for an International Trade Specialist in the International Trade Administration within the Department of Commerce. The position is a senior-level position in ITA's Office of the Under Secretary (OUS).

Duties

As a International Trade Specialist, you will perform the following duties: Serve as a technical expert in trade promotion and a key member of the Under Secretary for International Trade's policy and planning staff. Implement initiatives related to the Administration's trade promotion strategy and ensure the Department's trade promotion programs are aligned with government-wide priorities. Create written communications and messaging regarding international trade agreements and related material on the Administration's trade promotion strategy, i.e., briefing papers, speeches, talking points for the Secretary of Commerce and the Under Secretary for International Trade. Facilitate interagency coordination, information sharing and reporting on trade indicators, including the planning and execution of priority-related interagency working group meetings. This experience need not have been in the federal government. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify at the GS-14 level you must meet the specialized experience requirement described below, and the experience must be found in your resume. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as: Leading/facilitating agency or interagency working groups on International Trade Promotion. Implementing trade promotion strategies, programs, and initiatives. Drafting and developing key trade strategy communication materials, i.e., briefs to senior-leadership and stakeholders, messaging materials, speeches and/or talking points. Managing professional development activities related to trade promotion.
