About the Position: This position is located at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC), Fort Sam Houston, Texas.
Duties
Coordinate with Logistics Technicians and the Area Managers for matters concerning supply and availability of all standard and non-standard items and alternate sources for multi-source items.
Contact requisitioner and/or supply source personnel to resolve problems and to obtain or provide information regarding status, cancellations, prices, etc.
Utilize logistics automated systems for a combination of tasks concerned with ordering, receiving, storing, issuing, and replenishing medical supplies for various departments, clinics, and external customers of BAMC.
Ensure medical supplies and material are properly marked, tagged, labeled, and/or in properly marked containers.
Examine items received, note averages, shortages, or any damages incurred in shipping.
Initiate orders and address supply for items in out-of-stock situations, emergency one-time orders and special requests.
Conduct inspections of all assigned supply areas and identify and remove all unserviceable supplies.
Manage and control stock based on customer preference, demand, seasonal requirements, item availability, sources of supply, problem items, shelf life, budget expenditures, and other influences.
Maintain a balance between supply budget estimates and supplies on-hand verses budget and forecasts future requirements.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- A pre-placement medical examination is required.
- Moderate to heavy lifting up to 45 pounds is required.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Specialized Experience: In order to qualify, your resume must demonstrate that you possess at least one full year of specialized experience which includes: initiating medical supply orders, conducting medical supply inventory, and examining medical supply items received for shelf life, shortage/overage, or damage. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
