You will serve as a Security Specialist Officer (SSO) in the Security Division (N92) of COMMANDER UNDERSEA SURVEILLANCE.

Duties

You will plan and conduct continuing analysis of program operations to identify the need for protection and security, including developing and maintaining the physical means used for protection and security at all the program’s operating locations. You will contribute to program planning discussions to advise program participants as to how to incorporate processes and resources to assures the protection of Special Compartmented Information (SCI)/Controlled Access Program (CAP) assets. You will lead Special Security Representatives (SSRs) onsite at operating locations. You will collaborate with technical and functional leads to assure the completeness and adequacy of their plans, and integration of plans across program areas to identify and resolve potential security vulnerabilities. You will lead and provide guidance for implementation and execution of SCI/CAP security countermeasures. You will lead efforts to assess the reliability loyalty, suitability, and trustworthiness of those persons who have access to sensitive or classified information, resources, and material. You will provide authoritative interpretations of the broadly defined guidelines governing SCI/CAP security operations. You will ensure the availability of a tailored Security Education and Training Awareness (SETA) program for all briefed personnel.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Security Professional Education Development and Security Fundamentals Professional Certification no later than 1 year post hire.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing security management expertise for developing and implementing solutions to critical security issues and problems related to physical, personnel, and industrial security programs to improve organizational effectiveness.
