You will serve as a Nuclear Director in the Coating & Services Group (Shop 64), in the Production Resources Department of PSNS and IMF.

Duties

You will analyze the problems identified in audits, surveillances, incident reports, case histories, and other nuclear quality documents to determine causes and trends to recommend or direct appropriate corrective actions. You will develop short and long range plans to provide manning, facilities, material and equipment to support scheduled and unscheduled urgent nuclear and refueling or defueling work for the organizations covered. You will manage through subordinate first and second-level supervisors, the nuclear and radiological work of the shop or trades assigned. You will ensure the Reactor Plant Projects and associated interface work performed by shop(s) is accomplished in a safe, economical and timely manner in accordance with governing directives, instructions, plans, cost and quality requirements. You will maintain a skilled nuclear qualified workforce (including workers, journey-level mechanics, leaders, and supervisors) trained to support future workload needs for shop work. You will provide evaluation and oversight of the nuclear training program to ensure improvements/changes to shop/trade processes are incorporated, and that lesson plans are adjusted to address deficiencies and associated corrective actions. • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
• This position requires occasional on-site inspections and evaluation in the industrial areas where climbing high ladders and standing on narrow catwalks high above the ground is reuqired.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: managing nuclear or radiological production projects in support of the overhaul of ships or submarines.
