This position is located at Bureau of Engraving and Printing, in the Product Branch within the Office of Product Development. As a Program Manager (Currency Product Manager), you will actively manage, understand, prioritize, and communicate notable activities within the product's lifecycle with key product stakeholders, internal and external to BEP. For new products, you will lead all phases of BEP's Banknote Development Process (BDP) ensuring the denomination meets requirements.
Duties
As a Program Manager (Currency Product Manager), you will:
Lead the development of the overall Currency Lifecycle Management Plan having overall cost and schedule responsibility.
Lead the overall product development efforts within OPDfollowing the multi-phase stage-gate banknote development process. This includes developing, updating, following and ensuring compliance with product plans and governance, defining needs and requirements for product or products, establishing success criteria, ensuring appropriate evaluation of robust features & technology, establishing quality plans and ensuring that a comprehensive product design and specification is developed.
Work closely with the Project Manager to ensure the development of detailed technical test plans and reports and/or specifications to evaluate designs and features of proposed BEP products.
Lead matrix management-type teams composed of personnel from various BEP offices in pursuit of program and project objectives.
Apply state-of-the art knowledge of Program and Project Management as well as state- of-the-art knowledge of print manufacturing to ensure that products are successfully delivered on time and on schedule.
NOTE: There is no marketing aspect to the Product Manager role at BEP, which is primarily responsible for managing product development and testing activities and requires frequent access to production areas.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes:
Experience managing projects, which includes planning and requirements development, execution, resolution of issues, liaison with multiple stakeholders, and communication of results.
Examples of such experience could include:
Developing manufactured products from design, through development, testing, and transition into manufacturing; OR
Planning and execution of verification and validation activities for new/improved products, equipment, systems, or processes with the potential to impact multiple stakeholders; OR
Working on a project through a complete, stage-gated development process; OR
Leading a program of multiple product improvement or testing activities.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-14, you must have been at the GS-13 level for 52 weeks.
