About the Position: The primary work location is the Parris Island Eye Clinic. However, may be occasionally called over locally to MCAS Beaufort depending on mission needs. The work environment is indoors from approximately 0700-1530 M-F; hours may vary depending on clinic work flow, but will generally be 8 hour days, 5 days a week. The technician will work alongside with several active-duty opticians/hospital corspsmen to provide eye care.

Duties
Providing support at the front desk (scheduling appointments, answering the phone, providing customer service, triaging acute issues
Working up patients for the provider and acquiring specialty eye imaging
Spectacle frame selection, ordering, and fitting
Other administrative and clinical tasks
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position requires a SECRET National Agency Check w/ Inquiries (ANACI) background check.
- This position has been designated as a Testing Designated Position and is subject to a pre-employment screening and random testing thereafter.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination. A candidate selected to this position will be required to sign a statement consenting to annual seasonal influenza vaccination.
- Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
- This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons in accordance with Army Regulation 40-562, Chapters 3 and 4.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) Training and Certifications from the American Heart Association and the American Red Cross within 6 months of hire.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 that includes 1) maintaining electronic health records; and 2) general administrative/clerical duties and 3) Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
