You will serve as a MAINTENANCE MECHANIC LEADER in the PUBLIC WORKS DIVISION of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.
Duties
You will explain procedures, policies, written instructions, or other directives to others performing maintenance work.
You will advise others on the use of tools and safety equipment when performing electronic work.
You will cooperate with coworkers of other trades to accomplish tasks involving joint efforts.
You will coordinate maintenance work assignments among staff to maintain work progress and meet schedules.
You will detect and diagnose system malfunctions, disassemble equipment, repair, or replace parts on ordnance equipment.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
- May require possession of a valid Environmental Protection Agency Universal Certification for working with all types of refrigerants at high and low pressures.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including rotating shifts, overtime, nights, weekends, holidays and/or be "called back" to meet mission requirements.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

1) Serves as working leader over at least three trades and crafts ( Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic and Sheet Metal Mechanic) employees, and as coordinator/team lead between supervisor and teams of employees.
2) Have an in-depth experience, skill, knowledge, training and journey level ability to perform as team leader or work independently on assisted projects. Leads a group of civilian and military personnel who perform the full range of work as shown below and which are inherent in this position.
3) Passes on instructions to the team from the supervisor. Ensures the assignment of tasks is commensurate with the skills and knowledge of personnel. Initiates work, and while working alongside other workers, sets the pace.
4) Demonstrates proper work methods. Ensures team is instructed on work requirements, sequence, procedures, and deadlines to be met. Addresses issues concerning procedures, policies, instructions, and other directives. Checks work in progress and when finished to see that instructions/requirements and deadlines were met.
