You will serve as a PHYSICAL SCIENCE TECHNICIAN in the FUELS DEPARTMENT, OPERATIONS DIVISION of NAVSUP FLC YOKO REG. ***This Job Opportunity Announcement is using an additional online assessment tool to evaluate applicants. Duties

You will inspect and sample a variety of tanks, tank trucks, single product tankers, pipelines, barges and other media associated with the storage and transportation of petroleum products. You will analyze test results and perform routine calculations while insuring that fuel impurity levels are within safety limitations. You will maintains records of fuel tests, independently interpret test results, and notify affected ship and/or activity and supervisors of any questionable findings. You will calibrate and perform limited maintenance/repair on laboratory test equipment, provide quality control and inspection services for all products received, stored, issued, or transferred at the Area of Responsibility (AOR).

  • This position may require travel to places within and outside the contiguous United States which could include remote or isolated sites. You may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • If eligible for permanent change of station, the appointee will be required to sign a transportation agreement to establish a Government time in service requirement of 12 months.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
  • May be required to obtain a VISA dependent on the overseas country's laws/regulations.
  • You will be required to sign the Statement of Understanding for Overseas Employment acknowledging receipt and understanding of the statement of living and working conditions for this location.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

  • Tour of duty will be 24 months.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-06) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing most or all of the following duties: 1) Conducting and analyzing a wide variety of chemical and physical tests while applying physical science principles and methodologies; 2) Providing quality control and inspection services; and 3) Assisting with corrective maintenance of laboratory equipment to support warfighting readiness of operating units.
