You will serve as a PHYSICAL SCIENCE TECHNICIAN in the FUELS DEPARTMENT, OPERATIONS DIVISION of NAVSUP FLC YOKO REG. A post allowance amount, (otherwise known as: COLA), of 12.25% will be added to the stated salary. Post allowance is subject to change at any time. Duties

Inspects and samples a variety of tanks, tank trucks, single product tankers, pipelines, barges and other media associated with the storage and transportation of petroleum products while assisting with the testing of various petroleum products. Analyzes test results and performs routine calculations. Insures that fuel impurity levels are within safety limitations. Maintains records of fuel tests, independently interprets test results and notifies affected ship and/or activity and supervisors of any questionable findings. Maintains records of all tests performed, both written and electronic. Calibrates and performs limited maintenance/repair on laboratory test equipment, provides quality control and inspection services for all products received, stored, issued, or transferred at the Area of Responsibility (AOR).

  • This position may require travel to places within and outside the contiguous United States which could include remote or isolated sites. You may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • If eligible for permanent change of station, the appointee will be required to sign a transportation agreement to establish a Government time in service requirement of 12 months.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
  • May be required to obtain a VISA dependent on the overseas country's laws/regulations.
  • You will be required to sign the Statement of Understanding for Overseas Employment acknowledging receipt and understanding of the statement of living and working conditions for this location.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-06) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing most or all of the following duties: 1) Conducting and analyzing a wide variety of chemical and physical tests while applying physical science principles and methodologies; 2) Providing quality control and inspection services; and 3) Assisting with corrective maintenance of laboratory equipment to support warfighting readiness of operating units.
