Duties

Provide Field Level Maintenance and supported logistics assistance for U.S. Army ground equipment and weapons. Perform analysis, discrepancy identification and recommend resolution for supporting logistics issues and operation on equipment. Provide technical guidance regarding the adequacy of tools, personnel, facilities, inspection methods and use of diagnostic and test equipment and maintenance procedures. Monitor equipment service schedules for all supported units. Compile and analyze a variety of databases on current and projected readiness. Conduct studies of material requirements and utilization with a maintenance activity.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment physical to meet physical efforts requirements.
  • Position is covered by the Civilian Drug Abuse Testing Program and must successfully pass a pre-employment urinalysis and random drug testing thereafter.
  • Position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968; persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible.
  • Must possess and maintain an appropriate valid driver's license and be able to obtain and maintain a military driver's license.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • Up to 10% business travel may be required.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: performing research and analysis of equipment issues; utilizing maintenance and logistic automated programs; monitoring equipment readiness; determining required equipment maintenance, parts, repairs and associated supplies in support of field maintenance program; and providing equipment status updates and reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer Service (Clerical/Technical)Maintenance Planning and ManagementResearch and Data AnalysisSupply Planning Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
