This position is located within (EMS) Environmental Management Services at the Lebanon VA Medical Center in Lebanon, PA. The purpose of this position is to provide leadership and direction to: (6) WG-7305-4 Laundry Machine Operators, (1) WG-3111-03 Sewing Machine Operator - Housekeeping Aid, (1) WG-7601-02 Personal Effects Worker, and (1) WG-5703-05 Motor Vehicle Operator.
Duties
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Assists in providing clean linen to wards, clinics, canteen, surgery, etc.;
Refills linen ward carts to established quotas and returns excess supplies to linen shelves;
Distributes clean uniforms to uniform issue room;
Prepares linen carts for distribution and maintains clean delivery carts and storage shelves;
Establishes daily priorities and deadlines for laundry workers in accordance with guidelines, plans, and prioritizes established goals by EMS Supervisor;
Provides input in writing for possible disciplinary action and for performance appraisals;
Monitors the operation of the laundry and reports any malfunctions to the EMS supervisor;
Acts as Motor Vehicle Operator in the absence of the incumbent of that position and assists Housekeeping Aid Supervisors with daily assigned duties;
Performs other duties as assigned
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday; 7:00AM-3:30PM; Weekends and holidays as necessary.

Qualifications
PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK CONDITIONS: The incumbent must stand and/or walk continuously on hard surfaced floors and is continually bending and reaching when performing duties. They frequently lift linen weighing more than 50 pounds and occasionally lifts bags of linens weighing up to 75 pounds. Incumbent needs strength and stamina for performing heavy tasks for long periods of time. Must pull wet, compacted textiles from washer/extractors and push or pull heavily loaded carts. Manually move carts in filling linen orders and places the cart at the loading dock area for pick up. They assist loading/unloading truck from vendor; checks and verifies seals, checks and records number of carts and weights. Physical strength is required when moving, turning, and pushing the carts, which may weigh up to 800 pounds.
