About the Position: Serves as a security and force protection specialist. Manages unit security program in the areas of collateral personnel security, information security, industrial security, etc. Implements higher headquarters security policies and regulations; conducts investigations, inspections, and recommends corrective actions.
Duties
Manages the Brigade personnel security program in accordance with current laws, regulations, and policies.
Conduct new hire security checks. Briefs new employees and debriefs those leaving sensitive positions.
Provides guidance on matters pertaining to the safeguarding and handling of classified and sensitive material, and advises leadership on matters related to the security classification principles.
Recommends or responds appropriately to correct deficiencies dangerous to security, up to and including removal of classified material when a significant breach is probable.
Establish and conduct security education program. Tracks mandatory training compliance and provides the required statistical data reports to leadership.
Conducts Operation Security inspections, reviews, assessments, and surveys to ensure protection of critical or sensitive information, to determine overall compliance with applicable guidance and policies.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance based on a Tier 5 investigation/Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
- One year trial/probationary period may be required.
- This position is Testing Designated Position (AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program). Incumbent must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
- May require Temporary Duty (TDY) travel up to 10% of the time.
- May be subject to random counterintelligence scope polygraph examinations.
- This position requires the selectee obtain the following core Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.
- Incumbent must complete the Department of the Army (DA) OPSEC Officer Level II course, Security/Crime Prevention Course, Antiterrorism Officer Basic Course, and Antiterrorism Officer Advanced Course within 12 months of onboarding.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Providing physical security support work associated with inspection of government facilities; 2) Providing advisory guidance on the use of security devices such as cipher locks, exterior lightening, or entry control systems; 3) Preparing security program updates for supervisors, or higher-level staff; AND 4) Utilizing personnel security automated system to confirm access and clearance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
