About the Position: This position repairs and overhauls gasoline and diesel engines and their systems and components.
Duties
Repair and test hydraulic and electric motor traction systems.
Rebuild, overhaul, and repair gasoline and diesel engine powered heavy mobile equipment and vehicles.
Repair automatic and non-automatic transmission, brake systems, and hydraulic operating systems and controls.
Troubleshoot and repair electrical control power systems.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic without more than normal supervision. Must possess the ability to perform common tasks performing preventative maintenance for gasoline and diesel engine powered heavy mobile equipment and vehicles for prevention mechanical problems, such as replacing spark plugs and changing or replenishing engine fluids and filters; changing or replenishing transmission fluid and replacing brake pads; and adding hydraulic fluid to hydraulic operating systems. I ensure needed plans, blueprints, materials, and tools are available.

PHYSICAL EFFORT
Works in tiring or uncomfortable positions for periods of time, with frequent bending, reaching, stretching and crouching. Climbs on and under equipment in awkward positions and in tight compartments. Handles heavy items weighing up to 100 pounds and exerts similar effort in pushing, pulling, and positioning items. Handles and moves heavier items with assistance from other workers or with lifting devices such as jacks, hoists or cranes. Works from ladders or platforms at varying heights.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Works indoors and 60% to 70% of the time works outdoors in all types of weather; works in very dirty and noisy atmosphere. Exposed to irritants and hazards such as dust, grease, fumes, moving objects and unsure footing. Work environment and processes provide potential for cuts, burns, irritations, bruises, electrical shock and injuries from falls. Uses protective equipment such as eyewear, hard hats, hard toe shoes, hearing protectors and respirators which may be uncomfortable to wear or use and may be worn for long periods of time.
