This position is located in the Office of Public Engagement, Department of the CEO/Immediate in Washington, D.C.
Duties
Designs public engagement programs and projects for public-focused and mission-aligned events and programs in collaboration with the Director, Public Engagement, and the AmeriCorps executive team.
Advises agency management on public engagement and branding concepts and policy formulation and the potential public reaction to proposed policy and engagement events.
Concepts, plans and schedules are scaled to cover the entire public engagement lifecycle (identify project stakeholders, determine level of engagement, create, and implement engagement and communication strategies, conduct analysis for decision makers, execute project plan, complete project closeout and after-action review/lessons learned analysis).
Effectively engages and collaborates with agency leadership and colleagues across the Strategic Engagement Office, regional teams, service commissions, grantees, and members to expand awareness of the AmeriCorps brand and mission through the development of public programs and engagement experiences.
Presents information in new ways that will increase understanding among program stakeholders and the public with varying levels of comprehension on AmeriCorps programs and policies or opposition or indifference to AmeriCorps program objectives.
Supports AmeriCorps convenings, summits and other large events, develops robust project plans, forecasts, manages and defends budgets and coordinates logistics for these events.
Analyzes conflicting data and summarizes recommendations for project and program changes, considering various points of view and specifying the reasons for acceptance or rejection of the input or proposed public engagement approach.
Adapts project planning and work methods in response to new information, changing conditions, or unexpected obstacles to improve project/program delivery.
Organizes site visits, pop-up events, roundtables, and meetings in support of AmeriCorps leaders.
Designs project plans and executes and directs activities that integrate the work of graphic designers, artists and vendors and consider event layouts, décor, lighting, and interactive elements to enhance the overall public engagement experience.
Provides advance set up and onsite event management that requires travel and the ability to rent an automobile and operate the automobile and meet timelines
Requirements
- You must be a United States Citizen
- A 2-year probationary period is required for new Federal employees and supervisors.
- Merit Promotion and internal applicants must submit a SF-50 to verify Status and grade
- Satisfactory completion of a background investigation.

Qualifications
This position is located in the Washington, D.C. area, although it is telework eligible, it requires frequent travel. Travel may be biweekly for periods of three to four days, or more. Additionally, you will be required to provide advance set up and onsite event management that requires the ability to rent and operate an automobile.
Applicants must have one year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the upper range of the NY-03 pay band (at, or equivalent to, the GS-11 level) in the Federal service that demonstrated experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships at executive levels within an organization in order to develop and disseminate coordinated messages and plan events which accurately represent organizational programs by designing and tailoring meetings and public involvement strategies to the general public and special target audiences.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps VISTA) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education.
