The Department of Commerce is seeking bright, innovative, results-oriented individuals to join our Pathways Recent Graduates Program. This vacancy is for a International Trade Compliance Analyst (Recent Graduate) in the International Trade Administration. Duties

As an International Trade Compliance Analyst (Recent Graduate), you will perform the following duties: Assists senior personnel in the analysis of less complex investigative/compliance cases. Provides excellent customer service, responding to inquiries by internal and external customers, stakeholders, and the public. Identifies customer needs and clarifies issues in communication with the customer and, when appropriate, consults with Program Manager and/or Team Leader prior to responding to customer needs. Acknowledges customer inquiries and apprises customers of the status of the status of the inquiry and when to expect the resolution. This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill other International Trade Compliance Analyst (Recent Graduate) GS-1801-9 positions within the Department of Commerce in the same geographical location with the same qualifications and specialized experience.

Qualification requirements in the vacancy announcements are based on the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook, which contains federal qualification standards. Graduation / expect graduation date MUST be indicated on your resume. *Applications can be accepted from students who expect to complete qualifying education within 9 months from the date of application. However, the education must be successfully completed before the applicant can be appointed to a position.* Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience need not have been in the federal government. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify at the GS-09 level: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as: -Analyzing and/or applying US trade laws or U.S. business practices; and -Applying international financial and business concepts; and -Preparing briefings, correspondence, reports, and/or memoranda; and -Conducting research, gathering evidence, performing analysis, and presenting findings. -OR- SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION: Two (2) years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a Master's degree, a Master's Degree or equivalent graduate degree in a field such as international policy, international commerce, international management, intercultural relations, international development, global economy, government and foreign affairs, international business, international trade, international economics, international affairs, international relations, or other related fields of study. -OR- COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A combination of related graduate level education and specialized experience. Note: Only graduate education in excess of one year is qualifying for combination.
