This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

Duties

The SPC is responsible for tracking and reporting all suicide attempts and completions at their clinical location and support the rest of the team in tracking for the entire system, including the submission of a monthly report to the National Suicide Prevention Program and to VISN 20. The SPC is responsible for the follow up of consults (the next business day) received from the Veterans Crisis Line to assure timely access to care and follow-up for Veterans in crisis. The SPC is responsible for the continued contact and monitoring of Veterans that have been identified as a "High Risk for Suicide" to ensure continued care and treatment. The SPC is responsible for the follow-up on referrals received from staff as a result of Operation S.A.V.E. trainings. The SPC is responsible for maintaining the facility Category I Patient Record Flag for High Risk for Suicide which identifies Veterans who have been deemed at-risk for potential suicide, in consultation with their Principal Mental Health Provider. The SPC ensures that Veterans identified as being at "High Risk for Suicide" receive followup for any missed appointments within the health care system in conjunction with the clinical treatment team and that this follow-up is documented in the electronic medical record. The SPC assists the interdisciplinary High Risk for Suicide Review Committee which is responsible for reviewing the "High Risk for Suicide" list and corresponding Category I Patient Record Flag at least every 90 days. The SPC assists with the aggregate suicide Root Cause Analyses (RCAs) and assists in the individual RCA concerning Veterans who have attempted or committed suicide. The SPC assists with the Environment of Care (EOC) Committee and coordinates Safety Surveys quarterly. The SPC, in conjunction with Facilities Management Service, prepares the Quarterly EOC report which tracks identified problems and proposed fixes. The SPC is responsible for the delivery of Operation S.A.V.E. training, or other approved "gatekeeper" training, to all non-clinical staff at New Employee Orientation. The SPC is responsible for the delivery of other training programs at the site by request of the facility. The SPC is responsible for the delivery of the community version of Operation S.A.V.E. training to community organizations that have contact with Veterans. The SPC is responsible for delivering community outreach activities every month. Qualifications

Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. English Language Proficiency Requirement - Per VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Chapter 3, Section A, Paragraph 3j: No person will be appointed under authority of 38 U.S.C., chapter 73 or 74, to serve in a direct patient-care capacity in VHA who is not proficient in written and spoken English. Education: Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. Licensure: Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-0185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to dependently practice social work at the master's degree level. Grade Determinations: Social Worker GS-12 Program Coordinator Experience and Education: One year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills and judgment, demonstrating progressively more professional competency. Candidate may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. Licensure/Certification: Individuals assigned as social worker program coordinator must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure. Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: In addition to the experience above, the candidate must demonstrate all of the following KSAs: Knowledge of program coordination and administration which includes consultation, negotiation, and monitoring. Knowledge and ability to write policies, procedures, and/or practice guidelines for the program. Ability to supervise multidisciplinary staff assigned to the program. Skill in organizing work, setting priorities, meeting multiple deadlines, and evaluating assigned program area(s). Ability to provide training, orientation, and guidance within clinical practice.
